Gary W. Babb
Mr. Babb is originally from Oklahoma, but work has taken him from South Florida to South Texas and finally to Southern California where he has spent the last twenty years. Prior to beginning his career in Cable TV, he served in the Navy in communications and traveled the world. His education includes Western Oklahoma State College, Amarillo College, DeVry Institute of Technology, National Cable Television Institute (NCTI), and currently holds an FCC license in communication.
As a business executive, his previous writing experience has been directed toward letters, memos, proposals, and reports, however he has always enjoyed the magic that can be spun with words to sell, convince, or inform those targeted. Earth is Ours is his first effort toward spinning a tale of entertainment. The telling of this story and weaving the words provides a very exciting and entertaining saga, which won Best Fantasy/SciFi 2005 from the San Diego Book Awards Association. The sequel, Target Earth, won Finalist 2006 from the same awards. The third of this series, Earth's Dragons, is complete and is due for release in 2010.
His plans to move back to Oklahoma finally materialized and he and his wife Junie have moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in the heart of Green Country. He wants to settle into a slower pace and devote his energy to his writing and fishing on Lake Eufaula.
Earth is Ours, a fresh and uniquely original story line, bridges many genres. A symbiotic relationship develops between a self-aware female computer and an American Indian man dying of old age. This is a forced relationship dictated by mutual needs for survival in a world stripped of technology by aliens. The main characters begin the fight of their lives, but before they can fight the fierce aliens, Levi and Amy must fight for control of who they will be jointly. What begins as conflict of minds develops into tolerance, then cooperation and finally love. This love of total oneness creates a unity of incredible power and strength that provides the means to fight the aliens. Female brains and male brawn unite to battle against incredible odds for the survival of the human race. The conflict of minds, action, adventure and suspense are all interlaced into a compelling and fast-paced adventure.
Target Earth is the continuing saga and greatly anticipated sequel of the award winning book, Earth is Ours, “Best” Fantasy/SciFi 2005 from the prestigious San Diego Book Awards Association. The beloved characters developed in the original story evolve and begin an exciting new adventure as they defy monstrous, invading aliens dedicated to the total destruction of the human race.
Earth’’s Dragons is the continuing saga and greatly anticipated second sequel of the award winning book, Earth is Ours, Best Fantasy/SciFi 2005 from the prestigious San Diego Book Awards Association. The first sequel, Target Earth, placed Finalist in the same awards for 2006. The beloved characters developed in the original story evolve and begin an exciting new adventure in the sequel. In Earth’’s Dragons the characters evolve yet again and embark on a new adventure and finale of the series as they continue to defy monstrous, invading aliens dedicated to the total destruction of the human race. The male versus female conflict of minds, emotions and motivations remain a large portion of the story as it unfolds from both viewpoints. The struggle continues against formidable invaders led by an awe inspiring supreme leader. In this fast paced and compelling adventure, battles wage across the California and Arizona deserts.
Capt. Nick Johns, a wounded and quadriplegic Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War, is approached by assertive government officials, who, unbelievably, recall him to active duty to serve humanity. He is chosen because of his self-sacrificing war record and his unique ability to survive depression resulting from his debilitating injury. To be more precise, they want his disembodied brain to command and become the spaceship, Genesis, for a two hundred year deep-space flight to re-establish the human race doomed to extinction from an asteroid.
One selfless but vastly superior, augmented mind must discover a way to honor his commitment to serve humanity and save the human race, even from itself. Capt. Johns must survive centuries of essential medical research and implementation, technical and societal challenges and disasters, long years of loneliness inherent to command, alien encounters, and possibly even Divine Intervention. Can the love of two women provide the balance he so desperately needs to endure or will they cause his demise?
